NLA - Two months ago, the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers were subjected to a CHF 360,000 payment of tax arrears by the Federal Court. As Die Südostschweiz reports, however, the Lakers have yet to receive the bill for it.

As Sandro Ruggli, lawyer and member of the board of directors of the Lakers Sports AG, tells the newspaper: "No, we have not recieved the bill yet. We will only settle it, when it arrives."

The Lakers do have the money ready thanks to some provisions, grants by the "100-er Club" (about CHF 120,000) and some other patrons. However, Ruggli clearly is not pleased with the current state of the tax law: "The VAT (value-added tax) law is not satisfactory and needs to be changed."

Back in May, the Federal Court decided that the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers had to pay back CHF 360,000 in taxes to the Federation, because they did not pay the VAT for the donations they got from their "100-er Club" for years.
