As it can be read in today's NZZ, Romain Loeffel's lawsuit against the League is based on the supposedly irregular way the suspension has occured.
According to the same source, such a salary deduction made by a club following a player's suspension is very common, depending on the relevant salary.
The League suspended Loeffel for a total of seven games after the defenseman had shoved away a linesman in the game against Lausanne HC on September 26.
UPDATE Loeffel's agent Gerald Metroz denies the reports from the NZZ. "This information is totally wrong," he clarified towards hockeyfans.ch. "I can confirm that Romain Loeffel won't proceed against the League." 18 October 2014, 3:28 PM
