Maxim Lapierre recently part ways with Swedish team Modo Hockey. Earlier today, the Swedish newspaper Expressen reported that the 30-year-old is set to sign with a Swiss team. According to Le Matin, HC Lugano has won the race for the former NHL-player against Ambrì and Fribourg. In the case of Fribourg, Le Matin adds, the deal did not get through due to financial issues.

Lapierre has appeared in 694 NHL games for the Montreal Canadiens, the Anaheim Ducks, the Vancouver Canucks, the St. Louis Blues and the Pittsburgh Penguins. This season, he scored eight goals and eleven assists in 34 games for Modo. (mso)

UPDATE HC Lugano's team manager Roland Habisreutinger denies that Maxim Lapierre has already signed a contract with Lugano. There is not only no signature, there is also "no agreement" yet, he says upon request from Ticinonews. - 22 January 2016, 3:18 PM
