Sion has applied for a license as farm team of Lausanne HC, but both Sion and EHC Wintherthur, who apparently has also decided to go through with their application as farm team of the Kloten Flyers, can also earn their promotion by winning the Swiss Amateur Championship.
"We are working on three different options. First, we can be promoted by winning the Championship. Then we can do it through the partnership with Lausanne, and finally, we could also take a bit more time, maybe a year, to better prepare for the promotion", explains Gérald Bressoud, the president of HC Sion.
With Herisau, Sion, Wintherthur (all as farm teams) as well as Arosa all looking to play in the NLB next season, the league has a lot to consider over the course of the next few weeks. It remains to be seen, how many teams really have the necessary backing and the facilities to prevail in the NLB. (mso)
