As Genève-Servette HC announces, Mike Santorelli will definitely not fulfil his two-year contract with the Grenats. In fact, the Canadian has decided to hang up his skates with immediate effect.

The reasons for the forward's decision lie with his health. "I had two very exciting months in Geneva," said Santorelli, referring to rumors about him wanting to leave Geneva due to boredom. "But, due to the worsening of my injury and the uncertainty regarding a total recovery of my abilities, I decided to be honest with everyone and make a difficult but realistic decision."

The club has accepted his decision and released him from his two-year contract. The 30-year-old forward only appeared in six games for the Eagles, scoring one goal and three assists.
