As HC Lugano announces, Maxim Lapierre will indeed return to the Bianconeri. The 31-year-old forward has signed a new contract which is valid until the end of this season and also includes an option for an additional term.

Lapierre was released from his professional tryout with the New York Rangers on Tuesday. On Friday, he then confirmed that he would return to Switzerland. This morning, the Corriere del Ticino already reported that Lapierre will likely return to Lugano even though team manager Roland Habisreutinger denied their interest in Lapierre on Thursday.

Now, however, the Canadian will not only return to Switzerland but also his last employer. Lapierre joined HC Lugano in January and already played 21 games for the Bianconeri last season, putting up eight points (three goals, five assits).
