Already in June last year, Almond was reported to have signed a three-year deal with LHC, starting in 2019. There were even reports about a possible early move to Lausanne, however, as the player and the club could apparently not agree on financial terms, this did not happen in the end.
Without naming his future team (LHC is still involved in the playoffs), Almond officially announced his departure from GSHC on Instagram today: "I've made memories that I will always cherish and now it's time for new adventures. A piece of my heart will always stay in Geneva, see you on the ice...!"
The former Swiss international joined Genève-Servette HC in 2012 from the Minnesota Wild organization and managed to record 64 goals and 95 assists in a total of 248 Championship games with them. In addition, he won the Spengler Cup with the Grenats twice in 2013 and 2014.
