14 players are at the end of their respective contracts. The team manager of the Dragons has thus his work cut out for him.

Who will stay and who will go?

HC Fribourg-Gottéron has not yet hired a head coach for the 2020-21 season. “The players that I’ve contacted would like to know who will serve as head coach next season. Since I cannot provide them with that answer yet, I explain to them the profile we want him to have,” Christian Dubé tells La Liberté. He is looking for someone who promotes "fast hockey".

As for their current team, the same source reports that Benjamin Chavaillaz and Philippe Furrer will definitely stay with the team. Noah Schneeberger, for his part, as well, unless he requests to leave. They will also add an import defenseman and probably David Aebischer. The other spots are up for grabs. For now Dave Sutter (ZSC Lions), Benoît Jecker (HC Lugano), Igor Jelovac (HC Ambrì-Piotta), Thomas Thiery and Miro Zryd (EV Zug) are of interest to Dubé.

Christian Dubé also hopes to acquire a scorer. However, players like Chris Baltisberger, Dario Simion, Damien Riat, and Yannick Herren are also of interest to other teams. Christian Dubé would like to keep Matthias Rossi, but he, too, is courted by several other teams. Lukas Lhotak, on the other hand, has – in all likeliness – no future in Fribourg.

Dubé is also happy with Daniel Brodin. However, depending on whether they decide to go with two import centers next season, they will not be able to retain him. “I am super content with him,” Dubé says about Ryan Gunderson and adds that he believes other Swiss teams have also taken a liking to the American. Whether or not they will agree on a contract extension remains thus to be seen.
