New defenseman in Biel

For the remainder of the season, EHC Biel will have an additional import defenseman available. Alexander Yakovenko joins the team effective immediately. So far, the 21-year-old has spent the season with Jukurit Mikkeli in the Finnish Liiga.
With import defender Anssi Salmela still being out and HC Davos-loan Otso Rantakari only being around temporary, the new Russian should provide a better-suited alternative for Biel.
Prior to joining Jukurit last summer, Yakovenko spent some time in the USHL with the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Before that, he was engaged in Russia's second-highest league, the VHL, for a while.
