Although this past regular season has been successful on the ice for the ZSC Lions and EV Zug, the financial side now looks quite different. ZSC's CEO Peter Zahner expects a deficit of "around one million", as he tells the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. The same holds for EVZ's CEO Patrick Lengwiler: "However, in recent years we have created a good financial basis," he says to the Luzerner Zeitung.
Whereas HC Davos' president Gaudenz Domenig expects a loss of "a couple of 100'000 francs" (Südostschweiz), SC Bern is mainly suffering non-hockey related events in Postfinance Arena or the gastronomy sector: "In March alone, we have cancellations totalling CHF 1.2 million to date," CEO Marc Lüthi explains to the news agency Keystone-SDA.
And what about HC Ambrì-Piotta, who has been struggling financially in recent years? "We expect losses of around CHF 500,000," president Filippo Lombardi says to the Neue Zürcher Zeitung." Although the current crisis might be an existential threat to HCAP, Lombardi remains optimistic: "In recent years, we have been challenged over and over to find solutions."
For the SCL Tigers, the Berner Zeitung estimates that CHF 350'000 will be missing. For the first time since 2014, the Tigers will end a season in the red. No problem so far, president Peter Jakob says, "but what happens if the virus still rages in June and July?," he asks. "Then we could no longer guarantee for anything."
