The newly-signed Canadian defenseman has been chosen to wear the "C" in Lausanne.

Mark Barberio to lead the Lions.

"I am extremely proud and honored to have been appointed captain of the Lausanne HC. My teammates and I are looking forward to the start of the season. I promise you that we'll give it all on the ice." are the first words of Mark Barberio as the new captain of the Lions.

«Mark is a great player, with class and a lot of experience»
Craig MacTavish

Barberio, who succeeds to Etienne Froidevaux, will be assisted by Joël Genazzi, Lukas Frick, Christoph Bertschy and Josh Jooris. Recently, it was reported that Froidevaux was given permission to talk to other clubs, as LHC was not guaranteeing him a place in the lineup.

Craig MacTavish, head coach, explains why the choice fell on Barberio: "Mark is a great player, with class and a lot of experience. We are very happy to have him as captain. He arrives in Lausanne with all the qualities of an great leader, on and off the ice."
