"Dear ZSC family, it is not yet the right moment for thanks and retrospectives," Lukas Flüeler states. "Nevertheless, I would like to inform you that this will be my last season with the ZSC Lions. In favor of a new challenge, I will end my hockey career at the end of the season."
The goaltender already told the Tages-Anzeiger last month that he could not imagine playing his last National League game for any other team than the ZSC Lions. Team manager Sven Leuenberger also revealed at the time that they had not yet talked with Flüeler about his contract but that they would give him a chance to earn himself a new deal.
With Flüeler retiring, this door has now, of course, closed. The goaltender, who is a product of EHC Kloten's organization, has been playing for the ZSC Lions' organization ever since his return from the OHL in 2007. He has appeared in almost 500 games for the Lions and celebrated four championship titles with them.
