National League

The 31-year-old is currently under contract with the New York Islanders but did not make the NHL roster.

According to Grégory Beaud (Blick), Richard Panik is expected to sign with Lausanne HC and stay with the National League team until the end of the current season. He would thus become Lausanne HC's eighth import player.

LHC confirmed last week that they were looking for another import player and that they were especially observing the North American market. As for Panik, Lou Lamoriello, GM of the New York Islanders, told the press yesterday that Panik (and Bode Wilde) will be assigned to a "different location" within 48 hours.

Richard Panik has played over 500 games in the NHL and 200 games in the AHL throughout his career. Last season, he appeared in four NHL games for the Islanders as well as in 39 AHL games for the Bridgeport Islanders and the Chicago Wolves.
