Until when the soon-to-be 18-year-old will stay with the Mice will be decided by when (and if) the OHL starts its season.

On Saturday, McTavish will turn 18 and be eligible for a Swiss work visa. He is set to arrive in Olten on Monday, as his club writes. For how long he will suit up for EHC Olten is depending on the OHL. Due to Covid-19, the Canadian junior league has postponed the start of their season indefinitely.

McTavish, a member of the Peterborough Petes, is in possession of a Swiss license. His father, Dale, played in Switzerland from 2000 until 2010. Born in 2003, Mason made his first steps on the ice with EV Zug.

For this years' NHL Entry Draft, McTavish is presumed to be picked quite early, with projections from ninth overall to late in the first round.
