As the Thurgauer Zeitung already reported last week, HC Thurgau has found a new import player to replace the injured Derek Hulak. His name is Jonathan Ang and he last played for the Springfield Thunderbirds in the AHL.

The Canadian is at the end of his quarantine time he had to go through due to traveling from the US to Canada. He will not have to sit through another one, as Canada is not on Switzerland's list. That means he will be eligible to the Lions as soon as he arrives in the country, which is scheduled for Sunday.

Ang, 23, spent the last two years in the AHL. Prior to that, he played in the Canadian junior league OHL for a few seasons. In 2016, he was selected by the Florida Panthers in the fourth round of the NHL Entry Draft. About two weeks ago, he was put on unconditional waivers by his NHL-team for the purpose of contract termination.
