Meier will have to pay a fine of $2,000 for embellishment. The Swiss forward had previously received a warning by the NHL for an incident which occurred in the game against the Winnipeg Jet. As he did it again in the Nashville game, he was now fined.

Meier is currently in his third season with the San Jose Sharks, it has been his most productive thus far. In 70 games, the forward has recorded 27 goals (a record for Swiss player) and 33 assists. He is three points away from beating Mark Streit's record (62 points in the 2006-07 season) for the most points scored by a Swiss player in the NHL ever.
