As a result of Christian Wohlwend's moving to HC Davos as head coach, the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation needs a new coach for the U20 team. Thierry Paterlini, 44 years old, has taken over the job with immediate effect. The former forward was employed over the past four years as head coach of the U18 national team. Now he has accepted a promotion to the next higher national team.

Reportedly, U17 national coach Martin Höhener is expected to replace Thierry Paterlini as the new U18 national coach, while the position of the U17 national coach will be eliminated.

Previously, the U20 national coach was automatically the assistant coach of the national team at the World Championship. It remains to be seen whether Thierry Paterlini will do the same. According to Watson.ch, the plan is that Christian Wohlwend will also assist Patrick Fischer next year in Zurich and Lausanne. However, for this to happen, the clubs of the National League have to agree.
