With the early extensions of head coach Patrick Fischer and assistant coach Tommy Albelin, the SIHF wanted to send an important signal for continuity in the planning up until and including the home World Championships and the Olympic Games, which will both take place in 2026.

Pleased about the extension, Lars Weibel - director of sport at the SIHF - is looking forward to continuing the collaboration: "Patrick Fischer and Tommy Albelin complement each other extremely well and impress with their expertise. We want to continue on the path we have taken [...]".

SIHF's CEO Patrick Bloch emphasizes the importance of the extension in view of the home tournament in 2026: "The two contract extensions guarantee us important strategic and economic planning security on our way to the home World Championship."

For Fischer, this is a "great privilege" and he is "filled with pride". Together with Albelin, they aim at "playing a successful and attractive ice hockey and achieve our sporting goals."
