While Sean Day, Brandon Halverson, Dawson Leedahl, Chris Nell, Vince Pedrie, and Ty Ronning were assigned the Rangers' AHL affiliate in Hartford, Jeremy Brodeur was released from his PTO. Nico Gross, for his part, was sent back to his junior team from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), the Oshawa Generals.

The 18-year-old defenseman, who is a product of EV Zug, is set to play his second straight year with the Oshawa Generals. Last season, Gross managed to record four goals and ten assists in 58 regular season games for them. He was selected as 101st overall by the New York Rangers in this year's NHL Entry Draft.
