Due to being limited to two import players per team, the WHL's Kootenay Ice have decided to cut Gilian Kohler from their roster. The 18-year-old will return to his youth organization in Switzerland, EHC Biel, and suit up for their Elite Juniors, as the Journal du Jura (relayed by SwissHabs) reports.

Kohler joined the Ice for the 2017-2018 season after being selected third overall in the 2017 CHL Import Draft. He played 55 games for them during that term, recording eight goals and eleven assists. In the one game he suited up for so far this season, he put up one assist.
