As Fredi Pargätzi, OC president of the Spengler Cup, says in an interview with Die As soon as next year, there could be a Swedish contestant at the Spengler Cup again. "The the Swedish clubs have shown a great interest in participating in the tournament", Pargätzi says.
However, the Swedish Hockey Federation does not want the Spengler Cup organisational comittee to just invite a team, but that the teams have to qualify with their performance in the SHL-championship.
"For example the first ranked team of the regular season or the runner-up of the championship", Pargätzi specifies and adds: "I'm confident that already next year a Swedish team will play at the Spengler Cup."
