The Lions have signed the 22-year-old to a four-year contract extension. Also forward Mattia Hinterkircher stays for one more year.

"Pius is an important pillar and the best offensive center with a Swiss passport on our team," ZSC Lions team manager Sven Leuenberger says. "I'm happy that he will stay with us and won't move to the NHL."

That Suter will end up in the NHL, however, is not yet completely out of the question. His new four-year contract includes an NHL out-clause, but only after the first year in Summer 2020. This season, Suter appeared in twelve games and put up seven points (one goal).

In addition to Pius Suter, the ZSC Lions have also extended the contract of forward Mattia Hinterkircher for another year. The 23-year-old homegrown talent will thus stay in Zurich at least until the end of the 2019-20 season. This season so far, he has scored one goal in 13 games.
