Due to Heinz Ehlers' departure at the end of the season, the SCL Tigers are now busy looking for a new head coach.

As team manager Marco Bayer confirms to the Berner Zeitung and Blick, Lars Leuenberger is a candidate for their vacant head coaching position. According to Blick, Leuenberger is also of interest to the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation in regard to the U20 national team head coaching position.

The SCL Tigers already knew in January that Heinz Ehlers would leave at the end of the season, as is revealed in an interview with Ehlers in the Berner Zeitung. According to Klaus Zaugg (Watson), Michael Liniger, 40, (GCK Lions) used to be on the Tigers' list of candidates but has since been taken off due to his age ("too young").

Zaugg further writes that the team manager's job is also less than secure as "there are influential circles in Langnau who have come to the conclusion that there may be less damage in firing and paying Marco Bayer than in employing him for another season."

Apparently, there is also already a preferred candidate for that job: Pascal Müller who is currently working for the SIHF's officiating department.
