The future of the young defenseman is still undetermined: an option is the AHL, a return to Switzerland is another possibility.

EV Zug might be the next team of Nico Gross.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, his third, and probably last, season with the Oshawa Generals in the Ontario Hockey League finished abruptly for Nico Gross. Talking to the Südostschweiz about his future, the 20-year-old reveals that if he were to return to Switzerland, EV Zug would certainly be his first option. This is also due to the fact that before leaving for the OHL in 2017, Gross had started an apprenticeship in Zug, which he could take up again.

This past season, the seventh choice of the New York Rangers in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft (101st overall) collected 33 points in 53 games. Over the span of three years with the Generals, Gross recorded 69 points in 187 games. Moreover, Gross regularly suits up for the Swiss national team, having participated in seven different junior world championships in the last five seasons.
