The rumor circulating yesterday has found confirmation today: after 19 years, Chris McSorley will no longer be team manager of Genève-Servette HC. Relieved of his duties, the 58-year-old will not however leave the club yet, as he will stay at their disposal for now.

"I am sad and in shock," McSorley tells Sport-Center's Grégory Beaud (published on Le Matin). He also adds that while he will be availalbe to GSHC he does not know yet what his new role will be.

Asked whether he has been in contact with Lausanne HC, he only has this to say: "I have not had any contact with other teams. [...]But anyone who doubts my passion and desire to continue working in this field underestimates me terribly."

McSorley's replacement will be Marc Gautschi, who will officially begin in his new role on August 1. Last season, the 37-year-old was employed as assistant coach of the U17 team of the Grenats. Moreover, he was already a member of the sports commission of the club.

In his long tenure in Geneva as team manager and head coach, McSorley won two Spengler Cups and conquered the promotion from the National League B to Switzerland's top league in 2002.
