Once this season is over, the forward will be done with professional hockey and tackle a new challenge.

"Ice hockey no longer fulfills me 100 percent", Dominik Diem is cited on EHC Kloten's website. "The time has come for me to take a new path in life." The 26-year-old will not be returning to the club nor professional hockey coming season.

Having come up through the organization of the ZSC Lions, Diem made his first steps in men's hockey in 2014. In 2017, he left for a two-year stint with EHC Biel and returned to the Lions afterward. This past summer, he joined Kloten.

His decision to retire has nothing to do with the club, Diem notes. "I was warmly welcomed here right from the start and have felt at home in Kloten since day one."

The 26-year-old currently stands at 308 National League- and 125 Swiss League games.
