Blick already reported in December that the Lions would not extend his contract. As Simon Bodenmann now tells the Tages-Anzeiger, the ZSC Lions asked him in November about his future and he told them that he would retire come spring.

There had been interest from HC Ambrì-Piotta in the forward but Bodenmann decided to work in the private sector come autumn. The forward is a product of EHC Kloten's organization and played for them until 2015.

After three seasons and two championship titles with SC Bern, he signed with the ZSC Lions in 2018. This season, the forward recorded four goals and four assists in 31 games.
