Arrived at the beginning of the current season from the Anaheim Ducks, Derek Grant has particularly impressed the ZSC Lions with his physicality: "Derek goes where it hurts and is strong in front of the net. He's a physically strong forward who can handle the puck very well and gives our team both size and toughness" states team manager Sven Leuenberger.
This season, his first outside North America, Grant suited up in 45 games with the Lions, scoring 13 goals and collecting 19 assists. Out of 658 faceoffs, he won 50.61% of them. Additionally, he participated in the Spengler Cup with Team Canada.
