As anticipated by HeShootsHeScoores, Eliot Berthon has indeed decided to hang up his skates.

"I wanted to extend my contract in Geneva, but things didn't work out that way and I couldn't see myself wearing another jersey," he tells the Tribune de Genève. "I'm happy to finish with this group of guys I love and I think I made the right decision."

Berthon has - except for four seasons - only ever been under contract with Genève-Servette HC in his career. This season, he recorded three goals and three assists in 40 games for the Grenats.

Daniel Winnik, who has been with the Grenats since 2018, has also not received an offer for a contract extension from GSHC. He is, however, not yet ready to retire: "I'm going to take my time evaluating my options, but I want to stay in Switzerland."

As for the rest of the roster, Valtteri Filppula will also not receive a new contract from GSHC, Marc-Antoine Pouliot, on the other hand, might stay. According to the same source, Marc Gautschi would like Sakari Manninen and Teemu Hartikainen to stay.
