Stepping in to replace Petri Matikainen behind EHC Biel's bench for the last bit of the regular season and the post-season, Martin Steinegger will presumably not continue in that role. "I now have to look after myself first and foremost", he is quoted by the Bieler Tagblatt. "It is impossible to keep up this rhythm for a whole season."
Daniel Villard, Biel's CEO, also does not think that Steinegger is a candidate. "We need him too much as team manager", he tells the Journal du Jura. "But that does not change the fact that he has done an excellent job in the month he has been behind the bench."
A profile for the ideal coach will be drawn up in the coming days.
