EHC Biel's quest to find a replacement for Petri Matikainen, who was relieved of his duties in February and temporarily replaced by team manager Martin Steinegger, is not over yet and three other names have been thrown into the mix following the rumored interest in Tom Pokel.
Martin Filander has been the head coach of IK Oskarshamn for the past four seasons but now the club has been relegated and he has become available. For his part, Tomas Mitell has been the head coach of Färjestad BK for a little more than two seasons. Mitell, however, still has one year left on his contract.
Finally, another profile that reportedly gathered the interest of EHC Biel is that of Cam Abbott. The 40-year-old was fired by Rögle BK in December 2023 after six years behind their bench and is thus currently without a coaching job.
