The condition is as follows: if Arizona's third-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft is not transferred to New Jersey, New Jersey will instead trade their own third-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft to Washington.

According to Samantha Pell (Washington Post), Siegenthaler's camp is happy about the trade, as they hope he will get more opportunities to play in New Jersey.

The New Jersey Devils thus add another Swiss player to their organization: Jonas Siegenthaler joins Nico Hischier and Gilles Senn. The 23-year-old defenseman was drafted by the Caps back in 2015 and played his first NHL game for them in the 2018-19 season.

This season, Siegenthaler appeared in seven games for Washington. He did, however, not record a single point in those appearances.
