"We've begun initial conversations with Kevin [Fiala]," GM Bill Guerin confirms in a video call with journalists after he signed Swedish forward Joel Eriksson Ek to a new eight-year deal. In the coming week, they want to "dig a little deeper into it," Guerin explains.

Guerin, however, was not ready to make a statement about how a possible deal with Kevin Fiala could look: "It's just a matter of finding fair middle ground in what works best for both sides," he explains. "It all depends on years and dollars and on what we can afford to pay, what we can fit in."
