Tim Berni has, however, now received a qualifying offer from the Columbus Blue Jackets, meaning he will not become an unrestricted free agent tomorrow.
Berni was drafted in the sixth round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Blue Jackets. He has been under contract with them since the 2020-21 season but made the jump to North America one season later. This year, he mainly played for the Blue Jackets. He did, however, also appear in some AHL games for the Cleveland Monsters.
