Whereas Klasen is going to reinforce HC Davos, the Canadian forward will wear the colors of his native country. It will be Lapierre's third time at the Spengler Cup. In 2016, the 33-year-old suited up for HC Lugano, in 2017 he won the tournament with Team Canada.

In addition to Lapierre, Matt D'Agostini (HC Ambrì-Piotta), Aaron Gagnon, Chris DiDomenico (both SCL Tigers), Dion Knelsen (SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers), as well as Torrey Mitchell and Cory Emmerton (both Lausanne HC) are known to join Team Canada.
