Because of the uncertain financial future due to the spread of the Coronavirus, all teams of Sweden's top league have agreed to abstain from any kind of signings for the time being. Meaning: They will currently neither acquire new players nor sign their own players to contract extensions.

"Yes, it's true," Johan Hemlin, sports manager of the SHL, says to Aftonbladet. "We have made the decision in consultation with all 14 SHL clubs." The reason is simple: "To calm the market. It's a very special situation right now."

There is only one exception to the agreement: rookie contracts for players between the age of 18 and 21 are still allowed, Hemlin says.
