With the OK from EV Zug, the 32-year-old Swedish winger and Avangard Omsk from the Kontinental Hockey League have agreed on a contract as of the international break, meaning that Stålberg will still suit up for Zug in the upcoming two National League games.
"We always had open and honest discussions with each other, and the solution makes sense for all parties involved," EVZ's team manager Reto Kläy comments Stålberg's departure, simultaneously pointing to the profile of his replacement: "We want to find a player who fits into our concept."
In Omsk, Stålberg is supposed to replace the Canadian forward Kris Versteeg, who is leaving Omsk due to family reasons. The Swede has been part of EV Zug since the beginning of the 2017-18 season. He has managed to put up 26 goals and 33 assists in a total of 58 Championship games for them ever since.
