Rüegger was out with a knee injury after playing 40 minutes against HC Sierre on the road. The 20-year-old is expected to miss about ten days. HCT has called up Joel Messerli of the MySports-League's EHC Bülach to fill in for the time being.

21-year-old Messerli had already been called up by the Lions to fill a Corona-related vacancy in October but has not played a game in the Swiss League yet.

In addition to Rüegger, Thurgau is already missing Jan Mosimann (undisclosed back/neck-injury), Silvio Schmutz (concussion), Derek Hulak (post-concussion), Fabio Hollenstein (shoulder), and Atanasio Molina (broken finger) as well as three players (Patrick Parati, Joel Moser, and Misha Moor) who are on the long-term injury reserve.
