In today's quarter-yearly assembly of the National League clubs, they have decided to introduce the 'Coaches Challenge' as of next season. They also talked about safety boards, rules regarding ownership and more.

The 'Coaches Challenge' will allow a coach - if he has not yet used his timeout that is - to make the officials review a goal, where they suspect an offside has preceded it. Should his suspicion be confirmed, he can use the challenge again and keep his right to a timeout. If he is wrong, however, he is no longer permitted to use his timeout.

Furthermore, they plan to make the implementation of safety boards (flexible boards) mandatory in medium-term for all arenas and not just newly constructed rinks. As for the new rules regarding ownership structure, shareholders who are in possession of more than 25 % of the share capital have to be disclosed to the company as well as the license commission. No shareholder may hold - directly or indirectly - more than 25% of the shares of two clubs in the same league. Someone who operates in management of one club and owns more than 25% of the shares, is not allowed to execute a function in another club.

Moreover, they want a more uniform talent development from the Moskito level to the Elite A level and have thus decided to introduce "Talent Labels" (the Regio League has yet to approve this). The league will no longer hand out fixed sums for development, their contributions will depend on how much the clubs fulfil the new criteria regarding the development of young players.

Lastly, the league has decided to standardise their handling and working with coaches and players' agents in the future. While the SIHF has not released any further details on this, Blick reported this afternoon that the clubs will no longer cover the costs of the players’ agents from here on out. Instead, the athletes themselves will need to pay them. (mso)
