National League

The 42-year-old will be assisted by Waltteri Immonen and a second assistant coach, whose name has not been decided yet.

A new adventure for Christian Wohlwend.
SIHF

Wohlwend has been with Swiss junior national teams since 2012 and also served as assistant coach to the men's national team. Previous to that, he was mainly coaching amateur teams. Besides his engagement on an international level, he was an assistant with HC Lugano from 2014 to 2016, also taking over as interim head coach after Patrick Fischer was fired.

As like Wohlwend, also Waltteri Immonen has signed a two-year contract with Davos. The 52-year-old worked as assistant coach in Zug between 2008 and 2018, before he moved to EHC Kloten to assist André Rötheli behind the bench.

HC Davos' president Gaudenz Domenig is convinced that, with Wohlwend and Immonen, he has engaged precisely those coaches who can lead the club into a successful future: "Our two new coaches have a very broad spectrum of expertise. State-of-the-art training methods, broad hockey knowledge, strong coaching skills, lots of experience and mental strengths. The components to play attractive and successful ice hockey with HC Davos in the future are therefore available"

Wohlwend will not be working with the federation anymore: "I have always greatly appreciated working with the Swiss Ice Hockey national teams and I am grateful for the trust they have placed in me over the past few years," says Christian Wohlwend - but it has always been his goal to one day be the head coach of a national league club: "And with HC Davos, I have always felt a bond as a Bündner."

Michael Rindlisbacher, President of Swiss Ice Hockey, regrets his departure: "Christian Wohlwend has done an excellent job in recent years. He was an important part of our strong and successful coaching team. We are pleased for Christian that he gets the chance to work as head coach in the National League and wish him every success". Christian Wohlwend will have his last assignment for Swiss Ice Hockey at the upcoming World Championship in Slovakia. The search for a suitable successor will start immediately.
