National League

In addition to Lars Leuenberger, Peter Andersson, Michael Liniger and Rikard Franzén are supposedly on the list.

Rikard Franzén to move up in the Tigers' organization?

These three names are reported by the Berner Zeitung that, however, also highlights the fact that the current SCL Tigers' team manager, Marco Bayer, has been contacted for a job opportunity with the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation.

Therefore, before a new head coach is appointed, the future of Marco Bayer with the SCL Tigers will have to be determined. According to the newspaper, Bayer has been contacted to fill the vacant position of head coach of the U20 national team. However, according to Blick, Lars Leuenberger is also on the SIHF's list of potential successors of Thierry Paterlini.

As said, there are three new candidates for this open position, although Lars Leuenberger seems to be the front runner. In the first draft of the article, Ville Peltonen, who was released of his duties by Lausanne HC, was also listed among the candidates. He, however, has not handed in his CV to the team, as he still has a valid contract with the Lions.

Peter Andersson is currently employed in Sweden with the Malmö Redhawks, however, he already spent three seasons in Switzerland as an assistant coach in Lugano. Michael Liniger has been the head coach of the GCK Lions in the Swiss League for a little over a year now.

While the Berner Zeitung lists him as a potential candidate, Klaus Zaugg (Watson) reported yesterday that he was no longer on the list as he has not enough experience. Rikard Franzén has assisted Heinz Ehlers on the Tigers' bench for the last two seasons and his contract is valid until 2021. As he tells the newspaper, he would be "ready for the job."
