While the Berner Zeitung already reported in January that Bieber and Grassi would definitely leave the team, it had never been officially confirmed. It is unclear where Bieber will play next season, but Grassi is, according to Blick, returning to HC Ambrì-Piotta.

Christian Thomas, for his part, was supposed to support the Bears for the 2019-20 postseason. He only appeared in one game for SC Bern, recording one goal. The 27-year-old joined the Bears after his KHL team, Traktor Chelyabinsk, had been eliminated from playoff contention.

The Bears also bid farewell to Andrew MacDonald (left SCB before the season was canceled), Jan Muršak (Frölunda HC), and Pascal Caminada (SC Langenthal).
