According to Scott Wheeler (The Athletic), the plan - as of now - is for Marco Rossi to play the World Juniors and then head from Edmonton straight to Minnesota to participate in the Minnesota Wild's training camp.
"It's a great opportunity for Marco Rossi to represent his country at the World Junior tournament," Wild general manager Bill Guerin said Wednesday in his media availability. "Playing in the tournament will be great for his development, and we look forward to Marco reporting to the Minnesota Wild at the conclusion of the tournament."
Rossi will thus leave the ZSC Lions sooner rather than later. The 19-year-old forward was loaned to the National League team at the end of October. Due to a coronavirus infection, he has, however, only been able to play one championship game for the Lions, recording one assist.
