Almost 200 days following his dismissal, Chris McSorley and his former long-term employer Genève-Servette HC are set to meet in front of the courts.

After 19 consecutive years (17 of it in a dual-mandate as team manager and head coach), McSorley was relieved of his duties by GSHC at the end of July last year. As RTS journalist Marc-André Berset reports, the two parties will have a first appointment in front of the courts on Monday next week.

According to Berset, the stakes are high (at least in financial terms). While McSorley apparently complains about the missing salary since August 2020 despite a valid deal until 2023 (or 2028?), the club - via its current president Laurent Strawson - claims that they would no longer owe him anything.

The 58-year-old Canadian has been part of Genève-Servette HC since 2001. In his very first season with the Grenats (as general manager and head coach), he led the club from the former "National League B" to Switzerland's top league. In addition, he won the Spengler Cup twice with the Grenats in 2014 and 2015.
