In an interview with the Berner Zeitung, Andrew Ebbett also provided an update on Marco Lehmann and revealed that Sven Bärtschi was also kept out of the lineup due to health reasons. Lehmann missed almost the entire season due to a virus infection.
"Marco is now making progress after his viral infection. [...] We don't have all the answers yet," Ebbett states. "The next goal is for him to be able to start summer training on May 1." Another player who missed a lot of games this season is Eric Gélinas, first due to injury, then due to being a healthy scratch.
Kristian Kapp thus also asked about the rumors regarding a contract dissolution between SC Bern and Eric Gélinas. Ebbett remained tight-lipped about the subject matter but did say that they will talk with him in the next couple of days: "However, we bought out contracts last season. We should thus be done with that now."
As for their head coach Toni Söderholm, SCB and their coach both have the option to opt out of their current contract. Ebbett is, however, not in hurry to make a decision: "We will discuss and analyze everything in the coming weeks."
