The Hawks' general manager Stan Bowman already told The Athletic's Scott Powers at the end of March that they were going to sign him after the World Championship. Dominik Kubalík comes off a great World Championship performance, recording six goals and six assists in ten games for Czechia.

The forward was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 2013. His rights were traded to the Blackhawks earlier this year. In 50 regular season games for the Biancoblù last season, he recorded 25 goals and 32 assists.
