The 32-year-old forward, who has played over 700 NHL games in his career, joined the Bianconeri in 2016 from MODO Hockey. HC Lugano has now made use of an option in his original contract, which would have only been valid until the end of this season, and extended his deal.

The forward has taken on a leadership role in Lugano and was named an assistant captain at the start of this season. In total, Lapierre has suited up in 68 games for HCL, recording 15 goals and 23 assists.
