Andreas Athanasiou is still considering his options, but, according to a source close to a matter, a substantial offer from a KHL team is still on the table.

The Hockey News reported a bit over a week ago that Athanasiou received an offer of over $2.5 million from Avangard Omsk. Should he decide to play in Switzerland for the rest of the season, he would certainly earn less money. Of course, he could also still come to terms with the Detroit Red Wings. Athanasiou is expected to make his decision in a couple days.

Speaking of the KHL, players' agent Aljoša Pilko's client Stéphane Da Costa, who used to play in the KHL, recently signed with Genève-Servette HC. As Pilko states, Da Costa made his decision to join the Grenats after a convincing discussion with head coach Craig Woodcroft. Da Costa will stay with GSHC until the end of the 2017-18 season.

Furthermore, Teddy Purcell, another client of Pilko's, has found a new home in the KHL. According to the players' agent, he also had offers from two Swiss teams on the table, but eventually decided to play in the KHL. Purcell had been released from his PTO with the Boston Bruins at the beginning of October.
