"There are still some formalities to complete but I am happy to stay here," Chiesa stated after the game against the ZSC Lions yesterday. This afternoon, HC Lugano finally officialized the four-year contract extension with their captain. He will thus remain with them at least until the end of the 2012-22 season.

Chiesa is currently playing his ninth season with the Bianconeri. The defender returned to HC Lugano in 2014 after suiting up for EV Zug for four straight years. Overall, the 30-year-old has appeared in a total of 348 National League games with HC Lugano, in which he managed to put up 17 goals and 44 assists.
