According to Le Matin, Genève-Servette HC's currently planned arena project is about to hit another road block. Changes made to the original plans might lead to a delay for the project. A delay which could cost GSHC greatly.

Apparently, the investors have decided to increase the real estate part of the planned arena in order to ensure that the annual operating costs will be covered. However, this is viewed by some politicians as "a real estate operation whose ultimate goal is profitability rather than just a new arena", Le Matin writes.

With that, the original deal has changed. Thus, the authorities now need to reexamine the project once again, which will take some time. Time, Genève-Servette HC does not have, as the CHF 3 million they are supposed to get from the investors are linked to the go-ahead of the authorities. Their financial situation would thus continue to be critical.

However, there are rumors that Chris McSorley is working hard behind the scenes to come up with a plan B regarding the arena project. Be that as it may, we will know more after Thursday, November 30, when the project's steering committee (including representatives of Geneva's city council) will have a meeting.
